Soft Window Coverings

Grommet panels are definitely the hottest style in soft window covering this year.  The grommets range from 1" to the most popular 2" to the new 3" and they come in about 6 different finishes from pewter to antique brass to black.  The traditional drape or sheer panels take a modern twist with this grommet hardware, and they stack really small making them a very versatile choice for many window sizes.   
Drapes are great window insulators, they manage your homes heat control and ward off the winter chills.  They can be lined, to limit the light to the room, if you need maximum light control.  You will choose from traditional pinch pleats to more simple box pleats and more.  Sheers are  truly timeless.  They filter light without robbing the room of it.  The pattern & texture options seem endless.  Grommet the top or pleat it for formal spaces....amazing how the right sheer will wrap a window in softness.  
Privacy Sheers are pvc verticals wrapped with the sheer of your choice.  This products looks like a sheer but you have complete privacy with the vertical vane closed inside.

It is amazing how much more complete your room will feel with the perfect soft window treatment.  You might take note of these inspiration photos,  we are not putting as many layers and fullnesses as years gone by.  Inovation in windows themselves have made it possible for us to lightly accent our windows as opposed to layer and insulate them.  The new electronic monitors are not bothered by annoying window glare so our offices and family rooms can have beautiful filtered light coming in the window.  The other big deal in drapery is that they make the media room sound terrific.  We love the great faux suede fabrics for their sound absorbtion as well as their great look in drapery.

Top off you window with a valance. 

 

 Keep the lines simple and clean, but add a little contrast with a block of color on the hem or lining.   It's an affordable way to make a statement of your personality in your home.  It is amazing the change a room can have with the right fabric simply accenting your window.

 

 

Hardware

 

Evolved from functional and hidden, to user friendly and showy.  First off, enjoy the new Velcro rods that can be manipulated into different shapes and angles, not to mention the easy up and down of the valances for laundering, etc.   Decorative rods come in woods, irons, metals, cables, you name it.  The finishes are just as extensive, but the trend is definitely still pewter, antique brass, & dark oak.  The size of the rod is very important too.  Don't skimp on the diameter or the distance above and beside your windows.  The look is grand so make sure the decorative rod is too.
